Makhan Singh with other representativesOn 23rd February representatives from the Birmingham Law Society, Murria Solicitors and Mandla Bhomra Solicitors met at the Society to hand over a cheque for £2550 to the charity Fairbridge West Midlands, following a recent fund raising seminar.

Murria Solicitors, with Birmingham Law Society, arranged an "Advocacy Skills and Expert Evidence" lecture for Midland criminal lawyers to raise funds for the Fairbridge charity which has a centre in Digbeth. Fairbridge is a national charity supporting young people aged 13-25, who are outside mainstream education or employment, to develop the confidence, motivation and skills they need to turn their lives around.

The lecture was delivered by District Judge Bopa Rai, Recorder Balraj Bhatia of 1 High Pavement Chambers, Balbir Singh, a barrister at Equity Chambers and Malcolm Bishop QC of 2 Paper Buildings.

Murria Solicitors are planning to arrange two further events with Birmingham Law Society in 2009 to raise substantial funds for this year's President's charity, Fairbridge.
